Rosemary & Sage for more than Thanksgiving

photo_385_20080903

With Thanksgiving approaching, the hustle and bustle is in effect prepping for great food, family, and fun.  If you’re like myself, you’ll be using fresh herbs to prepare tasty meals for the holiday season.  Rosemary goes great with potatoes and sage adds a colorful twist to stuffing, but did you know that these herbs make a great hair rinse that is easy to make?  So, while preparing your shopping list, grab some of these extra herbs to give your hair a nice treat.

Rosemary and Sage Hair Rinse

1/2 c each of fresh rosemary and sage

1/4 c cider vinegar

1 qt water

Place rosemary and sage in large bowl.  Boil water and pour over herbs in bowl.  Strain and discard herbs.  Add vinegar and mix well.

After shampooing, use 1/2 to 1 ounce as final rinse.  Rinsing hair and completely removing shampoo is necessary in achieving clean and shiny hair.

More Georgia Fall Beauty

In case you didn’t know, I’ve had major fall fever this year which has resulted in my family visiting some of the beautiful state parks of Georgia.  Recently, we visited Amicalola Falls in Dawsonville, GA–home of the tallest cascading waterfalls southeast of the Mississippi.  One word about this gift from Mother Nature–BREATHTAKING!

That was our first time visiting, but definitely not the last.  If you need a place to reflect, connect with Mother Nature, or just a moment of peace, Amicalola tops my list!

Fall Season at Beautiful Tallulah Gorge

This past weekend, my family visited Tallulah Gorge State Park located in Tallulah Falls, Georgia.  The park is home to a gorge that is two miles long and close to 1,000 feet deep.  We were lucky enough to visit during the “peak leaf season” for viewing the vibrant colors of leaves changing.

Me, Fall Fever, and Thursday Quotes

GEDC1200

“Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower.”-Albert Camus

I’m not sure what it is about this particular year, but I’m experiencing major “fall fever”.  Usually, spring is my favorite time of the year.  If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I’ve tweeted about my desire for the fall season.

The “fever” must be due to my family’s first visit to Anna Ruby Falls and Unicoi State Park in Helen, GA last fall.  Anna Ruby Falls is a set of twin waterfalls that lies within the Chattahoochee National Forest.  If you look closely at the top of the picture, the high point of the waterfalls can be seen and is truly breathtaking.

Here are some other shots that we captured while walking along the trail:

If you don’t have “fall fever” after seeing the falls, maybe you will after seeing Unicoi Park which is where Anna Ruby Falls is located.  With the park being over 1,000 acres, there are endless possibilities for beautiful scenery especially during the fall months!
